Prime Minster Drew: Afri-Caribbean Connection “Cannot Be Erased”

Abuja, Nigeria, March 28, 2026 (PMO) – Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, has declared that the growing partnership between Africa and the Caribbean is now irreversible, as he delivered powerful closing remarks at the Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit in Abuja, Nigeria, March 28th.

Addressing delegates, government officials, investors, and cultural leaders, Prime Minister Drew underscored the historic significance of the moment and the depth of shared identity between both regions.

Reflecting on the outcomes of the summit and the broader movement toward reconnection, the Prime Minister stated, “The collaboration between us in the Caribbean and Africa can achieve great things, and as we continue to work together, we would achieve greater things.”

He emphasized that the partnership is rooted not only in shared history, but in a shared future built on cooperation, trade, and mutual advancement.

Highlighting a major diplomatic achievement, Dr. Drew pointed to the successful passage of a United Nations resolution recognizing the transatlantic slave trade as a crime against humanity, describing it as a defining moment for people of African descent globally. “That resolution where Africa and the Caribbean came together and declared before the world that the transatlantic slave trade is the worst crime against committed by humanity… that is now in the annals and cannot be erased,” the Prime Minister affirmed. 

Prime Minister Drew also commended the broad participation at the summit, noting the growing momentum behind Africa-Caribbean integration and the expanding coalition of countries committed to the cause.

Closing on a note of optimism, Prime Minister Drew called for sustained action and deeper engagement across all sectors, declaring that the bridge between Africa and the Caribbean is not only being rebuilt, but strengthened for generations to come.
