Drainage System: an efficient drainage system to handle large volumes of water and solvents, ensuring quick removal and preventing pooling.
Dedicated Space: Designate the emergency shower as a standalone unit, separate from the eye wash station, to allow simultaneous use if necessary.
Multiple Showerheads: Install overhead and side-mounted showerheads to ensure thorough decontamination from multiple angles.
Durable Materials: Use corrosion-resistant materials to withstand frequent use and exposure to water and solvents.
Dual Supply System: Equip the cubicle with separate lines for water and an appropriate oil-based solvent, each with dedicated controls for easy switching.
Temperature Control: Install temperature controls to provide tepid water for comfort and safety during decontamination.
Single-Pull Activation: Ensure the shower can be activated quickly with a single pull handle or lever, initiating an immediate and continuous flow of water or solvent.
Clearly Marked Controls: Clearly label the controls for water and oil solvent to prevent confusion during an emergency.
Continuous Flow: Sustained Operation: Design the shower to provide a continuous flow for at least 15 minutes to ensure thorough decontamination.
High Flow Rate: Ensure the flow rate meets safety standards (approximately 20 gallons per minute for water).
Safety Features: Non-Slip Flooring: Install non-slip flooring within the cubicle to prevent slips and falls during use; Grab Bars: Provide grab bars for stability and support during decontamination; Emergency Lighting: Equip the cubicle with emergency lighting to ensure visibility during power outages.
