Saint Kitts and Nevis Strengthens Police and Prosecutorial Coordination through National Investigative Training
The Attorney General’s Office and Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, under the UNDP Partnership of the Caribbean and European Union on Justice (PACE Justice) Project, is hosting a two day Prosecutorial and Police Investigative Training from 28–29 May 2026 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.
The training brings together police officers and representatives from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen investigative practices, prosecutorial preparedness, evidence management, and interagency coordination within the criminal justice system.
The programme focuses on practical and operational areas including early investigator prosecutor engagement, development of trial ready criminal case files, evidence management standards, chain of custody procedures, investigative leadership, ethics, human rights compliance, and victim centred witness care.
Scenario based role play exercises led by regional experts will also provide participants with practical training on investigator prosecutor coordination, evidentiary planning, digital evidence handling, and preparation of prosecution ready files.
The sessions are expected to support improved file quality, stronger evidentiary practices, enhanced investigator prosecutor coordination, and more efficient progression of criminal matters through the justice system, while also reinforcing professional accountability, evidentiary integrity, human rights compliance, and strengthened approaches to witness and victim engagement.
The initiative forms part of the Government’s broader justice reform agenda aimed at strengthening institutional coordination, improving investigative and prosecutorial practices, enhancing operational effectiveness, and advancing a more efficient administration of justice within Saint Kitts and Nevis.
