Saint Kitts and Nevis Presides Over Adoption of the United Nations 2026 Programme Budget

Saint Kitts and Nevis marked another historic moment on the global stage on December 30, 2025 as it presided over the adoption of the United Nations’ 2026 programme budget during a plenary meeting of the General Assembly in New York.Under the leadership of Her Excellency Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, the General Assembly approved the US$3.45 billion programme budget for the 2026 fiscal year. Ambassador Williams, serving as the presiding officer, guided the session with clarity and efficiency as Member States finalized the UN’s financial plan for the year ahead.

During the proceedings, Ambassador Williams thanked the Fifth Committee Chair, H.E. Ms. Zsuzsanna Horvath of Hungary, Bureau, Secretariat, and all Member States for their cooperation and commitment to consensus.The approved budget outlines the UN’s operational priorities for 2026, supporting peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, humanitarian response, and institutional strengthening across the organization.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis extended congratulations to Ambassador Williams and the Permanent Mission team, noting that the moment reflects the Federation’s growing leadership and influence within the international community.
