Scores of Dash Cam Videos of Reckless Driving in Saint Kitts Submitted — Tickets and Summonses To Be Issued
BASSETERRE, SAINT KITTS, APRIL 10, 2025 – Just weeks after the announcement encouraging the public to submit dash cam footage of traffic violations, dozens of videos documenting instances of reckless and dangerous driving have already been submitted to roadsafety@gov.kn.
The submissions, received from across the island, have captured a variety of infractions, including dangerous overtaking, red light violations, and driving without regard for traffic signs. Each video is being reviewed by the relevant authorities in accordance with the Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025.
Tickets and court summonses are currently being prepared for the registered owners of vehicles identified in the footage. Where necessary, further investigation is being conducted to verify details and ensure the integrity of the evidence.
Under the Amendment Act, video evidence deemed admissible by the court may lead to the conviction of traffic offenders. In such cases, the court may order a reward of up to EC$5,000 to be paid by the offender to the person who submitted the footage.
The Licencing Authority commends the public for their prompt and responsible response. Citizens are encouraged to continue submitting video evidence of traffic offences and to provide a brief description of the offence, along with the date, time, and location of the incident. Those wishing to remain anonymous should indicate so in their email submission.
All submissions remain confidential and are managed under the strict protocols. The Licencing Authority reaffirms its commitment to fostering a culture of accountability on the roads of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
