Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, November 18, 2024 – The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is
proud to announce that the 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers of National Security and
Law Enforcement of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will be held in St. Kitts and Nevis
from November 28-29, 2024. This significant event will be chaired by the Prime Minister, The
Honorable Dr. Terrance Drew, who also serves as the Minister of National Security, Citizenship,
and Immigration.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has made tackling crime on a regional level a top priority, and
this meeting is a crucial step towards achieving that objective. As part of CARICOM’s
commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its member states, the council will gather to
discuss and develop comprehensive strategies to combat transnational crime, which continues to
pose a significant threat to the region.
The agenda for the meeting will include the formulation and implementation of measures aimed
at enhancing collaboration and coordination among member states to effectively address the
challenges posed by transnational crime. The discussions will focus on improving intelligence
sharing, strengthening border security, and advancing legislative frameworks to ensure a unified
and robust response to criminal activities that transcend national boundaries.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in addressing these
issues, stating, “Our collective security depends on our ability to work together and share
resources, information, and best practices. This meeting is a testament to our commitment to
protecting our citizens and ensuring a safe and secure Caribbean.”
The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is honored to host this pivotal meeting and looks forward
to the productive discussions and outcomes that will result from the collaboration of the Council
of Ministers of National Security and Law Enforcement. Together, we can build a safer and more
