Press Release: St. Kitts and Nevis Customs & Excise Department
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 29, 2024 (Customs Public Relations Unit) – The St. Kitts and Nevis Customs & Excise Department conducted the ‘Customs Investigations and Case Management Awareness Course’ to increase capacity and develop skills from October 21 – 25, 2024. This training intervention was facilitated by subject matter expert and retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Richardson.
This training session was the last of two (2) sittings that exposed twenty-four customs officers between St. Kitts and Nevis to these crucial skills. Some topics taught during this course were Statement and Report Writing, the Customs Act, Case Management, Paper Committals and Court Procedures.
During a brief closing ceremony, the Customs Management congratulated the course participants for their efforts, interests and drive to learn such essential skills in our law enforcement quest. Bringing the event to a close, Mr. Kennedy De Silva, Comptroller of Customs, recognised and thanked Mr. Richardson for his contributions to the Customs Department and reforming its law enforcement presence and machinery. Mr. Richardson has assisted and provided training to the Customs Department for over fourteen (14) years, resulting in a robust and refined Investigations Unit and in-house Court Prosecutors.
