PRIME MINISTER DREW SAYS ST. PETERS ROAD REHABILITATION PROJECT IS PROGRESSING STEADILY
Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 31, 2024 (SKNIS): Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis and Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Eight, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, said that work on the Rehabilitation of the St. Peter’s Main Road and F. T. Williams Highway East Project is progressing steadily.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew made this statement during the ‘Roundtable’ special interview on May 31, explaining that the rehabilitation project is about more than just repairing the damaged roads.
He said, “It is not just throwing down asphalt … this is a comprehensive plan to transform that road network so that St. Peter’s can be able to grow.”
The prime minister added that the project includes infrastructure developments such as the addition of roundabouts, upgrading drainage systems, building sidewalks, and introducing new road networks that would benefit the community of St. Peter’s.
Dr. Drewalso addressed concerns expressed by some members of the public regarding the pace of the extensive infrastructural project.
“The project is on time,” he stated, “It is not going slow, but if people were to take a look at it, we are creating a whole infrastructure that can support not just the present but the future as well,”
The National Parliament of St. Kitts and Nevis authorised seven (7) million dollars for the construction of the St. Peter’s road in December 2022.
