The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Veterinary Officer to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the health and welfare of animals in our beautiful twin-island nation.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance in the development and implementation of veterinary policies and programs.
Oversee the inspection, diagnosis, and treatment of animals to ensure compliance with animal health standards and regulations.
Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging issues and trends in veterinary medicine.
Collaborate with local and regional stakeholders to promote animal health and welfare initiatives.
Supervise and mentor junior veterinary staff.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
At least five years of professional experience working as a veterinarian.
Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and public health principles.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Registration or eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Authority of St. Kitts and Nevis.
