ST. KITTS AND NEVIS HOSTS THE 43RD CROSQ COUNCIL MEETING, HIGHLIGHTING COMMITMENT TO REGIONAL STANDARDS AND QUALITY
Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 09, 2023 (SKNIS): The 43rd Meeting of the CARICOM Regional Organization Standards for Equality (CROSQ) Council is being held in St. Kitts and Nevis from October 09-10, 2023, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.
Spearheaded by the St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards (SKNBS), currently chairing the CROSQ Council, the assembly converges expert minds dedicated to bolstering standards and quality across the region.
The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister responsible for SKNBS, gave brief remarks, underscoring the integral role that collective commitment to standards and quality plays on both a regional and global stage. “This meeting is a testament to our collective commitment to ensuring that standards and quality remain at the forefront of our regional agenda,” Dr. Douglas affirmed.
Dr. Douglas spoke to the meeting’s significance not only in the immediate context but also within the broader vision of transforming St. Kitts and Nevis into a sustainable island state. In this vein, he noted that, in two days, the Cabinet will convene the nation’s youth as part of the budget preparation exercises. The aim is to thoroughly engage this demographic in discussions pertaining to the country’s transformation, reflecting a strong belief in the necessity of involving younger generations in the journey towards achieving and maintaining optimal standards.
He articulated a powerful message regarding the lasting link between appropriate standards, international recognition, and the country’s progression towards a sustainable future.
“We would not be able to truly advance, transition and transform this country into a sustainable island state without appropriate standards and appropriate international recognition for what we are producing here and exporting to the rest of the world,” noted Dr. Douglas.
Furthermore, he underscored the invaluable opportunity this meeting presents in St. Kitts and Nevis to all attendees, encouraging them to utilize this convening as a pivotal platform to solidify partnerships, cultivate collaboration, and perpetuate a collective journey towards ensuring that the standards and quality of the regions gleam as a beacon of excellence on the global stage.
Minister Douglas said that the 43rd CROSQ Council Meeting, thus, stands as a monumental gathering in aligning, fortifying, and propelling forward the strategic initiatives and efforts aimed at uplifting and solidifying the standards and quality across the CARICOM region. The discussions, collaborations, and resolutions emanating from this meeting are poised to pave the way for future-oriented, sustainable, and quality-driven development across all member states.
This event will, without a doubt, carve pathways towards elevated standards and a concerted approach to attaining and championing quality that resonates on a global platform, ensuring that the CARICOM region steadfastly advances towards a future of sustainable excellence.
The 43rd meeting, attended by directors from the national standards organizations of all 15 CARICOM Member States and various regional and international partners, commenced with a one-hour event, paving the way for two days of in-depth discussions on new and ongoing CROSQ initiatives aimed at enhancing regional quality infrastructure development. The meeting, which will also involve stakeholders exploring varied support mechanisms for these initiatives, will be broadcast live online and shared widely on social media platforms, connecting with a global audience.
