THE OECS AND FAO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO ST. KITTS AND NEVIS ON ITS ACHIEVEMENT OF 40 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 20, 2023 (SKNIS) – The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations have extended best wishes to the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis on achieving four decades of Independence.
In a congratulatory message from the Director-General of the FAO, Qu Dongyu to H.E. Dame Marcella Liburd, Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Dongyu said:
“On the occasion of your National Day may I extend to your Excellency in the name of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and on my own behalf best wishes for health and happiness. May the people of your country enjoy peace and prosperity.”

The Director-General of the FAO also wrote to Senior Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs et al.
“On the occasion of your National Day may I extend to you best wishes in the name of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and on my own behalf. I sincerely hope that the links between your country and FAO will be further strengthened for the enhanced welfare of the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis,” Mr. Dongyu said.
The OECS gave high commendation to St. Kitts and Nevis on its significant milestone of 40 years by saying that it acknowledged “the remarkable progress made by Saint Kitts and Nevis over the past four decades in all areas of national development, and commends the nation for the significant contribution which it continues to make towards the sustainable development of the OECS region.”
“The Commission looks forward to continuing in the service of the Government and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and extends very best wishes for continued social and economic growth, peace and stability, and sustained prosperity,” it further stated.
