VACANCY FOR CONTENT STRATEGIST AND DIGITAL MEDIA CONSULTANT AT THE SECRETARIAT OF THE ACS
CONTEXT
The Association of Caribbean States (ACS) is a regional intergovernmental organisation that was established by virtue of the Convention establishing the Association of Caribbean States, ratified in Cartagena de Indias in July 1994. Article III of the Convention defines the organisation as one of “consultation, cooperation and concerted action” whose purpose is “to identify and promote the implementation of policies and programmes”.
The organisation’s work is focussed on the areas of: disaster risk reduction, sustainable tourism, trade, transport and external economic relations, and the protection of the Caribbean Sea. The ACS has 25 Member States, 10 Associate Members, 6 Founding Observers and 29 Observer States and 6 Observer Organisations.
The ACS recognises that there are many benefits to the effective use of digital communication channels when relaying its key messages. Through relevant content, experience and dialogue, individuals can connect directly with other individuals and or groups, as well as brands and organisations, creating valuable relationships with both online and offline supporters. In order to more effectively use digital communication platforms that will increase digital brand engagement, and income generation (pledge fundraising and corporate partnerships), the ACS needs to engage an individual consultant in order to effectively achieve the aforementioned goals.
OBJECTIVE
Under the guidance and supervision of the Communications Officer, the consultant will assist the ACS Secretariat in:
(1) development and production of multimedia content in order to increase effectiveness of media reach & visibility,
(2) web-related activities, including transfer to the new website and social media in outreach; and (3) integrating digital components into all aspects of implementation of the Communications Strategy.
SCOPE OF WORK
Tasks Deliverables
Content Strategist
Create, edit and revise various forms of Social Media Guide/Policy, Publication communication products, including but not Guide/Policy, Editorial Strategy. limited to correspondence and technical Monthly Content Plan.
documentation such as speeches, factsheets, talking points, opinions, press releases, webarticles and social media texts in a consistent and coherent manner across all communication platforms.
Edit and proof-read written documents prepared by the secretariat, including checking grammar, acronyms and other abbreviations, etc. The drafting and editing work may require some additional research and coordination with relevant staff.
Content Creation, Editor,
Proactively create editorial content (stories, photos, advocacy images, contests, campaigns, audio, video, infographics, etc.) in cooperation with Communication Team and the Directorates and adapt for media pitching, web and social media, posting daily to respective channels. Press releases, outreach folders and fact sheets, newsletters, blog entries, posts, tweets, brochures, website content, video and audio components for broadcast, print media etc., or any other copywriting with the programme key messages to convey.
Stories, social media posts, videos, images, infographics, photos posted to digital channels.
Social media management
Continuously update and implement ACS digital communication strategy. Two-fold increase in followers by stipulated time.
Maintain a web and social media calendar Monthly web and social media calendar
and content plans of content themes and all upcoming coverage schedules according to the calendar. created and adhered to.
Prepare social media packs for flagship events, initiatives, campaigns Social media packs prepared for all key events, dates, launches, etc and shared with stakeholders, where appropriate
Actively engage with online audiences through social media channels. Timely responses to messages and comments, monthly reports on levels of engagement.
Copywriting, Website update and content management
Manage the ACS website on a daily basis; ensure key deadlines are met for the dissemination of time-sensitive content and
shift to the new website in line with the Communication Strategy and Content Strategy. Timely updates and monthly reports on improvements and content plans.
Generate and analyse reports on web traffic and KPIs using Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and other social media focused analytics channels. Monthly, Quarterly and final reports.
DURATION
The Consultant will be contracted for a period of 12 months.
REMUNERATION
A monthly payment of $2,000.00 United States Dollars (tax free) shall be made to the consultant upon the submission and certification of the agreed deliverables by the assigned supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS,EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Qualifications
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, marketing, social science, communication or a related field.
• Proven professional experience of at least five years in writing and content development for international organisations or media.
Work experience
● At least 5 years of experience in journalism and/or writing features for the web;
● Demonstrated experience in maintaining social media accounts, especially Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin, as well as experience with new media executions, preferably with a development organisation; knowledge and understanding of local and global digital landscape and trends;
● Experience with graphic design, ability to create designs for digital media purposes in open source graphic design programmes, such as Canva;
● Ability to integrate PR/communication initiatives with social media;
● Experience developing compelling content to generate response from audiences online;
● Experience in reporting on qualitative and quantitative analytics;
● Experience taking quality photographs and basic photo editing skills;
Skills
• Ability to work as part of a team with other Units/Directorates to produce appealing material.

• Good knowledge of and strong interest in development issues

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Fluency in Reading and Writing English is essential. (Native language). Spanish or French is an asset (Level B2)Intellectual Property Rights (IPR):

The consultant will work remotely in keeping with the working hours of the ACS, 9:00am-5:00pm (Trinidad and Tobago time).
The Consultant will be required to make himself/herself available to the Communications Officer during the working hours for in-person meetings, as well as to provide progress reports and creative consultation.
